Thailand prepares to host ‘2026 World Bank and IMF Meetings’

Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has confirmed Thailand’s readiness to host the 2026 Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The assurance came during a meeting with Manuela V. Ferro, Vice President of the World Bank for the East Asia and Pacific region, focusing on the cooperation between Thailand and the World Bank.



The Prime Minister is confident that Ms. Ferro’s visit will pave the way for meaningful collaboration between the two parties in the future, especially on the occasion of Thailand hosting the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in 2026. The event is expected to stimulate economic and tourism activities, reinforce confidence in Thailand’s event-organizing capabilities, and serve as a platform to showcase Thai art, culture, and cuisine to the world.

Key topics discussed between the two parties included labor quality improvement policies, plans to attract skilled talent, education policies, and water management strategies. The World Bank Vice President assured support for Thailand in knowledge exchange, expertise, and financial aspects for investment projects that will benefit the public.



Furthermore, Ms. Ferro commended Thailand’s policy execution aimed at attracting investments using sustainability approaches, coupled with Thailand’s neutral foreign policy amidst global conflicts.

Prime Minister Srettha assured that Thailand adheres to the principle of not being in conflict with any nation, stating that the Kingdom is a global citizen that maintains neutrality among all political spectrums. (NNT)
