During 6-10 April 2024, the Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), in collaboration with and the Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, the National Federation of Motion Pictures and Contents Associations (MPC), the Thai Association of Boys Love Content (TBLC) and various partners, led Thai entrepreneurs, actors, and actresses to participate in the first edition of HIFF in Ho Chi Minh City. The event featured various activities:
Over 20 Thai actors and actresses walked the Red Carpet during the opening ceremony at the Opera House on 6 April 2024.
A Thailand booth on Nguyen Hue walking street showcased Thai tourism, sports, culinary delights, and the film industry.
A mini fan meeting allowed actors and actresses to connect with their Vietnamese fans.
On 8 April 2024, the Royal Thai Consulate-General and the Thai Trade Center – Ho Chi Minh City cohosted the event “Empowering Partnerships: Thailand and Vietnam’s Digital Content Industries.” Nine Thai companies had exclusive opportunities to present their potential and strengthen networks with Vietnamese private sectors.
On 9 April 2024, Ms. Wiraka Moodhitaporn, Consul-General of Thailand in Ho Chi Minh City, attended the screening of the Thai movie “Pattaya Heat.” A Q&A session followed with Mr. Shupeng Yang (director), Mr. Jirayu Tantrakul (lead actor), and Ms. Gulasatree Michalsky (lead actress).
Additionally, two other Thai films, “Solids by the Seashore” and “The Cursed Land,” participated in the competition and were screened at the festival.
This project is a part of cultural diplomacy aiming to strengthen Thailand’s global popularity, especially in the content industry, provide opportunities for Thai private sectors abroad, and strengthen the vibrant Thailand-Vietnam relations at the people-to-people level. (MFA)
