The 4th of December of every year is Thai Environment Day. To mark this special occasion, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment is raising public awareness of environmental issues and eco-friendly lifestyles.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment launched a campaign for Thai Environment Day, starting with a celebration event held on Friday to honor the great legacy of His Late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The event held today also honors natural conservation volunteers across the country.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Varawut Silpa-archa said the COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it a higher volume of garbage, in the form of used face masks, infectious waste, and plastic waste from food delivery services.

Varawut asked the general public to be more aware of the limited resources, and to consider using reusable packages and practice recycling, as a way to help the country establish a circular economy.

The ministry is now encouraging the general public to change their behaviors and lifestyles to reduce environmental impacts, starting with the sorting of household waste, the efficient use of water and power, and forest conservation.

The minister asked the general public to be more aware of the limited resources, and to consider using reusable packages and practice recycling, as a way to help the country establish a circular economy.

Thailand has recently made several pledges, including the goal to achieve carbon neutrality and net-zero emissions. (NNT)
