
BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand and Qatar have signed an agreement to waive visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and official or special passports. The agreement was signed on March 3 by Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa and Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.
The agreement is expected to strengthen diplomatic relations by facilitating travel for government officials from both countries, reaffirming ongoing cooperation between Thailand and Qatar in various sectors, including foreign policy and regional security. The two sides also discussed developments in the Middle East, stressing regional challenges and areas of mutual concern.
Maris also expressed appreciation for Qatar’s role in assisting with the safe release of five Thai nationals from the Gaza Strip on January 30. Qatar has been involved in diplomatic efforts to coordinate with relevant parties on humanitarian and security matters in the region.
The agreement follows ongoing efforts to enhance bilateral ties and expand cooperation between Thailand and Qatar. Diplomatic exchanges between the two nations continue to address both regional issues and areas of shared interest.
