BANGKOK, Thailand – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) reported a surge in train travel on December 29, with more than 93,000 passengers using the service to return home or travel for the New Year holiday.
SRT Governor Veeris Ammarapala revealed that the day saw bustling activity at Bangkok Apiwat Central Station and Bangkok Station (Hua Lamphong), with operations running smoothly. A total of 93,744 passengers traveled nationwide, including 93,039 on regular services and 705 on special supplementary trains. This included 42,930 inbound passengers and 50,814 outbound passengers.
The Southern Line was the busiest, serving 30,499 passengers, followed by the Northeastern Line (23,715), Northern Line (18,143), Eastern Line (11,636), Mahachai Line (7,779), and Maeklong Line (1,972).
The SRT emphasized passenger safety and issued four key guidelines:
1.Check ticket details before traveling.
2.Avoid accepting or leaving items with strangers.
3.Refrain from consuming alcohol or smoking, as it is illegal.
4.Report suspicious individuals or incidents to train or station staff immediately.
