BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has warmly welcomed the return of Condor Airlines’ direct flights between Frankfurt, Germany and both Bangkok and Phuket.
The inaugural flight from Frankfurt to Bangkok, carrying 310 passengers, touched down on Monday, signaling a positive outlook for the Thai tourism industry.
TAT Governor, Mrs. Thapanee Kiatpaiboon, and her team were on hand to greet the arriving passengers.
Mrs. Thapanee expressed her optimism, stating that the resumption of Condor’s direct flights is a strong indicator of the growing demand for Thailand as a destination among long-haul travelers.
“This will not only help us to recover and expand our market but also provide greater convenience for travelers visiting Thailand,” she said.
To further attract younger travelers, TAT has invited prominent German travel influencers to experience Thailand’s popular and emerging destinations firsthand.
Condor Airlines will initially operate four weekly flights between Frankfurt and Bangkok, and two weekly flights between Frankfurt and Phuket.
Germany is a key market for Thailand’s tourism industry, with significant growth potential. In 2023, German tourists ranked 14th among all nationalities visiting Thailand and third in Europe, following Russia and the United Kingdom.
Over 729,000 German tourists visited Thailand in 2023, generating approximately 43 billion baht in revenue.
From January to September 18, 2024, the number of German arrivals reached 569,277.
German travelers typically visit Thailand during the peak seasons of November-March, and they are particularly interested in beach destinations, wellness tourism, and beauty treatments. TAT has set an ambitious target of attracting over 979,000 German tourists in 2024, generating 65 billion baht in revenue. (TNA)
