BANGKOK, 7 May 2013  The Public Health Ministry continues to keep in place its preventive measures against a possible spread of the new avian flu.

Public Health Minister Pradit Sintavanarong said on Monday that Thailand remains extra alert about the possible spread of the H7N9 avian flu while rigid inspection and monitoring programs remain in place.

Mr. Pradit said that no quarantine policy has been introduced at airports or cross-border checkpoints as there is not any scientific proof that the new strain of virus can be transmitted from human to human, just yet.

However, medical measures at all hospitals are being planned by the Public Health Ministry, which is trying to develop an anti-influenza medicine for the H7N9 strain.
