BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand has officially signed the Artemis Accords, an agreement focused on peaceful space exploration and utilization that aims to foster international collaboration, including ensuring efficient and sustainable lunar and space exploration in partnership with NASA. This agreement opens doors for Thailand to advance its capabilities in science, technology, and the economy.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Ms. Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI). Also present were Mr. Robert F. Godec, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, and representatives from GISTDA and NASA.
Thailand is the 51st country to join the Accords globally and the second in ASEAN, following Singapore. This signing signifies Thailand’s commitment to establishing itself on the global space stage. It also promises to enhance the nation’s space technology capabilities, offering invaluable opportunities for researchers, students, and entrepreneurs to engage in cutting-edge technological development. This collaboration will strengthen Thailand’s competitiveness and ensure sustainable growth in the international arena. (PRD)
