BANGKOK, 21 April 2012 – Thailand will be hosting the 2012 Rotary International Convention in early May during which time more than 30,000 guests worldwide are expected to attend.

According to co-organizer Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the convention is intended to show the country’s readiness to act as a regional hub of meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) – a segment of tourism which caters to corporate clients in any part of the world.

More than 30,000 guests from all over the world will be participating in the convention. The TCEB is positive that the event may generate at least THB 3 billion in circulation.

This year, the TCEB hopes to attract 750,000 visitors to the MICE tourism industry in a bid to reach its target revenue of THB 60 billion. The TCEB has also planned to push the MICE tourist number up by 75 percent in the next five years in a bid to earn a revenue of THB 130 billion.

The organizer has meanwhile unveiled the logo of the convention featuring a pair of smiling Thai boy and girl dubbed Yim and Yam.

The 2012 Rotary International Convention will take place between May 6 and 9 at IMPACT Arena, Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani.
