Thailand to implement proper measures for reentering of foreign tourists

At this stage, COVID-19 related measures will have to be eased, where possible, in a bid to revive economic situation, said Thai PM.

Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha disclosed about reopening the country to foreign tourists that concerned agencies are discussing and deliberating proper measures. Areas to be implemented will be tourist-destination provinces which have been impacted by COVID-19 situation. At an initial stage, only a few numbers of tourists may be allowed in order to assess efficiency of related system and measures, be it, screening process, mask-wearing mandate, social distancing, monitoring application, etc., and to boost confidence of the people in the country’s preventive healthcare against the spread of COVID-19. The most important thing is the cooperation of local people in conforming to the Government’s measures. According to the Prime Minister, at this stage, COVID-19 related measures will have to be eased, where possible, in a bid to revive economic situation. The Government strives to implement proper measures taking into account the benefits of the country and people.
