BANGKOK, Thailand – The Cabinet has approved in principle a draft ministerial regulation to increase child allowance benefits for members of the Social Security Fund.

The measure will take effect on January 1st of next year, and aims to ease the financial burden of raising children amid economic challenges. It also serves as a New Year gift to insured members.

The proposal increases the monthly child allowance from 800 baht to 1,000 baht per child. This flat-rate benefit is designed to encourage higher birth rates among insured members while providing financial relief.

The adjustment has been carefully structured to align with current economic conditions without jeopardizing the financial stability of the Social Security Fund.

The policy reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing social welfare benefits and addressing economic pressures faced by families. The increased allowance will apply to all eligible beneficiaries starting next month. (NNT)
