Starting April next year, the Passenger Service Charge at six Thai airports will see an increase of 30 baht. This change will affect international and domestic departure passengers at the airports operated by Airports of Thailand (AOT), which include Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, and Phuket.
International departure charges will increase from 700 to 730 baht, while domestic charges will rise from 100 to 130 baht per person.
The hike is attributed to the installation of Common Use Passenger Processing Systems across these airports, aimed at enhancing service quality, safety, and convenience. The systems include Common Use Terminal Equipment for improved check-in services, Common Use Self Service for self and advanced check-in options, and Common Use Bag Drop for simplified baggage processing.
The increased fees will be utilized to maintain and improve airport facilities and equipment, ensuring safety and convenience in line with international aviation standards. This charge, often known as airport tax, is included in the airfare. The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand and the Ministry of Transport have approved this adjustment. (NNT)
