BANGKOK, 27 November 2013 Thailand is set to play host to an international forum entitled the “Global Forum on Media and Gender” during 2-4 December 2013.
The Ministry of Education is joining hands with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Thammasat University in organizing the first Global Forum on Media and Gender at the Imperial Queen’s Park Hotel in Bangkok from 2 to 4 December 2013.
The key objective of the forum will be to form a ‘Global Alliance for Media and Gender’. The forum will foster debate, provide training, encourage the sharing of experiences, and host a high level session, which will be informed through the consensus of all stakeholders, and which will design the Global Alliance for the ‘Women and Media Follow-up’ of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
The forum is also aimed at strengthening the role of women in society through the media, with the focus to be placed on race, social class, ethnicity, religious belief, and sexual orientation.
