Phiphat said this year’s Thailand Tourism Awards has incorporated the Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration (SHA) standard to reiterate the promotion of safe and sustainable travel in Thailand’s new normal post-COVID-19 era.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is proud to present 185 Thailand Tourism Awards that recognize contributions from Thai tourism enterprises that upgraded the quality, professionalism, and service standards of the Thai travel and tourism industry.

The 13th biannual Thailand Tourism Awards 2021 presentation ceremony, graciously presided over by Princess Ubolratana, was held on 11 October, 2021, under strict COVID-19 controls at the PM Studio, Bangkok and was broadcast live online via the Facebook fan pages of the Thailand Tourism Awards and Amazing Thailand.

H.E. Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, said, “This year’s Thailand Tourism Awards has incorporated the Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration (SHA) standard to reiterate the promotion of safe and sustainable travel in Thailand’s new normal post-COVID-19 era. This enhanced effort will help restore Thai and foreign travellers’ confidence, while elevating the positive image of Thailand as a ‘white tourism’ (clean, convenient, safe, fair, and environmentally friendly) destination.”

TAT initiated the biannual awards project in 1996, as it believes that the Awards signify quality and excellence in tourism and hospitality operations. The Award winners demonstrate readiness to support and strengthen Thailand’s tourism industry, so that it may compete globally for many years to come.

This year, 10 Thai tourism enterprises received the Hall of Fame Awards: three in the attractions category.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, said, “The incorporation of the Amazing Thailand SHA standard criteria demonstrates Thailand’s commitment to the health, safety, and hygiene protocols that have over the year placed the kingdom among the best in the world for the ongoing COVID-19 recovery effort.

“Thus, this year’s Thailand Tourism Awards winners are not only judged on very specific criteria highlighting the very best of Thai culture, environmental protection, and contribution to civil society, but also on their effective health and hygiene standards, as Thailand continues to reopen for international travellers in the new normal.”

The 13th Thailand Tourism Awards 2021 attracted 346 entries with the 185 winners judged as meeting the five specific criteria: ‘white tourism’ (clean, convenient, safe, fair, and environmentally friendly), compliance with the BCG model, Amazing Thailand SHA standard, environmental responsibility, and voice of the customer.

The 185 awards winners are categorized in three categories; 83 attractions, 69 accommodation establishments, and 33 health and wellness tourism enterprises. Each category features Thailand Tourism Awards (Outstanding), Thailand Tourism Gold Awards (Excellence), and Hall of Fame Awards for entries that had received three consecutive Thailand Tourism Gold Awards.

This year, 10 Thai tourism enterprises received the Hall of Fame Awards: three in the attractions category – Chiang Mai Night Safari, Tiffany Show Pattaya, and Flying Hanuman (Phuket); one in the accommodation category – Siam Bayshore Resort Pattaya, and six in the health and wellness tourism category – Banyan Tree Spa, Banyan Tree Spa Samui, Fah Lanna Spa (Chiang Mai), RarinJinda Wellness Spa Resort (Chiang Mai), Oasis Turquoise Cove Spa (Phuket), and Oasis Spa Pattaya.
