Thailand Travelution 2022, the first digital technology show for the Thai tourism sector, has commenced at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. The event is aimed at reinforcing the government’s policy of leveraging digital technology in all aspects of national development.

Digital Economy and Society Minister Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn said Thai industries are making progress with the use of digital technology. This is enabling processes in production and services to be adjusted. For the tourism sector, the application of digital technology would help attract tourists, generate income for the tourism industry and improve Thailand’s GDP. Mr. Chaiwut noted that cyber security and personal data protection laws must also be taken into account when applying digital technology. This would be for the purpose of protecting tourists’ personal information.

Phuket Tourist Association (PTA) President Bhummikitti Ruktaengam said Thailand Travelution would promote tourism businesses’ access to digital technology. It would also encourage the use of tourism-related big data in product and service development. He said this would benefit the tourism industry as a whole, and enable startups to have opportunities to go global.
