Bangkok – Thailand and Vietnam have agreed to draft a 5-year strategic cooperation framework to boost mutual trade and investment.
On Friday, Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, attended the 3rd Joint Thailand-Vietnam Committee Meeting.
The meeting endorsed a proposal to develop the 2019-2023 strategic cooperation blueprint which aims to increase mutual trade between the two nations by 20 billion US dollars over the next three years, promote the import and export of agricultural products, and streamline investment projects.
Vietnam voiced its readiness to support Thailand’s Siam Commercial Bank in its quest to open subsidiaries in Vietnam.
As for the fisheries sector, Vietnam expressed its interest in learning from Thailand after the European Union removed a yellow card against the Thai fishing industry, thanks to the government’s relentless efforts to tackle illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
