The government is proceeding with its campaigns for domestic tours as the number of domestic trips this year reached 200 million as of Oct 31, said the government spokesman.
Anucha Burapachaisri, acting government spokesman, said that the number of domestic trips already exceeded the target of 160 million trips that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) had set earlier for the whole year.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Thai people made 222 million domestic trips in 2019, Mr Anucha said.
The TAT expected the nation would generate 800 billion baht in revenue from domestic tourism this year. The estimation was higher than its previous anticipation of 656 billion baht for 2022, the spokesman said.
Thai people’s demand for domestic tours was increasing, especially for family vacations, meetings and seminars, he said. (TNA)
