Thailand’s tax incentives boost order for 17,068 EVs

Buyers have ordered 17,068 electric motorcycles and cars that enjoy tax incentives from the state, according to the energy minister.

The panel was also briefed on initiatives to support the production of batteries for electric vehicles (EV) and develop Thailand into an EV production base. The initiatives included a project to introduce electric Tuk Tuk tricycle taxis.



To promote the local production of batteries for EVs, the National Electric Vehicle Policy Committee ordered the Excise Tax Department to work out its incentives for the battery production. The department will propose the tax incentives to the committee in its next meeting, Mr Supattanapong said.

There are 2,572 power outlets at 869 charging stations nationwide. (TNA)
