BANGKOK, 3 July 2014 – The Foreign Affairs Ministry has assured the public that Thai passport holders are welcomed to visit countries in the EU.
According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, rumors have been circulating in the past few days that Thai passport holders are not allowed to travel to countries listed in the European Union (EU). The rumors have caused fear and misunderstanding among Thais, as the EU decided to suspend official visits to and from Thailand, following its demands that Thailand return to democracy by allowing elections to take place.
However, the ministry has assured that ordinary Thais are as always welcomed to enter the EU countries provided that they have a legal visa and that the restrictions are only applicable to those who hold positions at the ministerial level or any other high-ranking positions.
