The ‘Thang Rath’ app, operated by the government, has experienced a tenfold increase in daily registrations following the Finance Ministry’s announcement of a new digital wallet scheme on July 24. According to Government Spokesman Chai Wacharonke, daily downloads and registrations soared to between 800,000 and 900,000, up from the usual 50,000 to 60,000, in the wake of the details being released last week.

Finance Minister Pichai Chunhavajira and his deputies have detailed the scheme, which includes a 10,000-baht handout, stating that individuals have until September 15 to register through the app. Pichai noted that the major uptick in activity on the application highlights the public’s keen interest in the digital wallet benefits.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has also been briefed on the surge in usage, pointing to the app’s crucial role in facilitating access to the government’s financial assistance programs. The public can seek further information or assistance regarding the digital wallet scheme via the dedicated hotline at 1111, available 24/7.
