BANGKOK, 2 April 2013 The situation of haze in the northern provinces has improved, except in Nan province where forest fires continue to burn.
Water trucks from Army camps in Nan and from Nan city municipality sprayed water into the air above the city, to help reduce airborne dust and haze. The effort was focused at tourism destinations and at communities.
The haze situation in Nan, however, was found to have deteriorated despite recent rain storms having helped to improve the haze problem in other northern provinces. Authorities attribute the deterioration to the continued burning of forests.
Mae Hong Son province remains the most haze-affected northern province.
