Police re-enact the crime in Wat Jet Yod area
Chiang Mai police used CCTV to track down a Mae Hong Son man who robbed a gold shop in broad daylight in the Wat Jet Yod area last week, announcing his arrest at the re-enactment of the crime.
Twenty nine year old Eakarin Wongsa confessed to police that he had gone into the Juruwat Gold Shop in the Jet Yod – Chiang Khien Road and asked to see a piece of gold jewelry with a half baht weight, valued at 10,000 baht. He said the shop owner looked away so he grabbed the gold and ran outside, jumping on his waiting motorbike and driving off.
Police had the thief re-enact the crime after they arrested him at his lodgings behind Chiang Mai Rajabhat University. In his possession they found a receipt for the sale of the gold ring, as well as the motorbike used in the crime.
He told police that he was unemployed and needed cash badly so had sold the gold ring at the Yaowarat Gold Shop in Sarapee and received 9,500 baht. He told police he had already spent all the money from the sale of the gold ring.
