BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for unpredictable conditions across Thailand from September 30 to October 3. Thunderstorms and strong winds are expected during this period, followed by a drop in temperatures of 1-3°C.

The weakening southwestern monsoon currently covers the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, along with a low-pressure area over northern Vietnam. These conditions will result in scattered thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in parts of the country, particularly in the northeastern region. Residents in these areas are advised to be cautious of potential dangers from severe storms, heavy rain, and strong winds.

In the Andaman Sea, moderate sea conditions are expected with waves reaching about 1 meter, while the Gulf of Thailand will have lower waves below 1 meter. However, areas experiencing thunderstorms may see waves exceeding 1 meter, and sailors are advised to avoid navigating in stormy conditions.

The weather will become increasingly volatile in northern, central, and eastern regions, including Bangkok and its metropolitan areas. Following the stormy weather, a cold air mass from China is expected to push through northern and northeastern Thailand, along with the South China Sea, causing temperatures to drop in the northeastern region by 1-3°C.

This weather shift is also associated with a monsoon trough, affecting northern, lower northeastern, central, and eastern regions.
