BANGKOK, 1 July 2013 The Metropolitan Police Bureau is mapping out plans to accommodate commuters during the Bangkok Triathlon 2013 scheduled on July 7.
Bangkok Traffic Police Chief, Police Major General Piya Tawichai said that the 5th annual triathlon is set to start from King Rama VIII Park at 5 AM on July 7 and will cover most of the distance of Boromratchachonnani Expressway.
Traffic will be sealed off at the entrances to the elevated expressway on the day from the beginning of the race until 9.30 AM. However, Police Major General Piya affirmed that the event will not affect traffic on the ground, both inbound and outbound, while the Rama VIII Bridge will remain open on the inbound lanes heading to the Phra Nakhon side.
The traffic police chief urged commuters and motorists, who will be traveling into the area, to plan their trips accordingly in order to avoid severe traffic congestion.
