BANGKOK, Thailand – Chiang Mai Railway Station was packed with locals and tourists arriving in the province ahead of the Songkran Festival. All Bangkok Apiwat–Chiang Mai train tickets (northbound) have been fully booked for April 11–16, while return tickets from Chiang Mai to Bangkok Apiwat (southbound) are completely sold out from April 14–20.
To accommodate the surge in holiday travel, the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) has added 26 special train trips on the northern, northeastern, and southern lines. These additional services will run from April 11–17 for both outbound and return routes. The SRT is also increasing the number of carriages to full capacity on each train to ensure a smooth and efficient travel experience without leaving any passengers behind.
