TRANG, Thailand – Officials in Trang province have inspected Emerald Cave and Koh Kradan to ensure safety and convenience for tourists during the New Year holiday. The inspections follow Koh Kradan’s recognition as the World’s Best Beach, which has attracted a surge of domestic and international visitors, increasing the need for effective management of these attractions.
Currently, 60% of visitors to Koh Kradan are international tourists, primarily from Scandinavia and Europe, with the remaining 40% being Thai nationals. Koh Kradan, renowned for its pristine beaches, has been accommodating over 1,500 visitors daily during the holiday season. This number remains within the capacity set by local authorities to support sustainable tourism. Emerald Cave, a celebrated “Unseen” destination, continues to draw large crowds and serves as the venue for Trang’s Underwater Wedding Ceremony.
The holiday season has provided a boost to Trang’s tourism sector, generating an estimated 100 million baht in revenue. Authorities have focused on managing visitor numbers, improving facilities, and implementing stringent safety measures to balance increased tourism with environmental preservation.
Efforts to enhance visitor experiences are central to the province’s strategy to uphold its reputation as a premier travel destination, promoting sustainable growth while safeguarding its natural beauty and appeal. (NNT)
