Transport Ministry details Bang Sue Grand Station development plans

BANGKOK – The Ministry of Transport has detailed commercial development plans for the Bang Sue Grand Station area to potential business operators.

Deputy Transport Minister Ormsin Chivapruck went over the plans to develop the Bang Sue Grand Station into a business center and transport center, which will connect Thailand to the rest of ASEAN. The Transport Ministry expects to begin inviting investment from the private sector in 2018. The area will be divided into three plots, totaling 218 rai.

The first plot, measuring 35 rai, is suited for businesses such as hotels and office buildings. The second plot, measuring 78 rai, is suited for wholesale and retail businesses, including conference centers and exhibition centers. The last plot of 105 rai will be suitable to develop a new urban area. The total expected investment for the project is estimated at more than 60 billion baht.

Meanwhile, the construction of the Bang Sue Grand Station is being delayed as adjustments are being made to the structure. Services are slated to begin in 2019.
