Although Tropical Storm Trami will not directly enter Thailand, its influence is expected to bring increased cloud cover, scattered rain, and strong westerly winds in northeastern Thailand, especially affecting the provinces of Ubon Ratchathani, Amnat Charoen, Mukdahan, and Yasothon.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department provided updates on two major tropical storm systems—Tropical Storm “Trami” and Cyclone “Dana”—currently active in the Western Pacific Ocean and the upper Andaman Sea. According to the 4:00 a.m. report (Oct 24), Tropical Storm Trami was centered over Luzon, Philippines, and is expected to move westward across Luzon and into the upper South China Sea by the end of the day.

Trami is projected to continue its path towards southern Hainan Island and central Vietnam’s coast by October 26-27 before looping back into the South China Sea. Although it will not directly enter Thailand, its influence is expected to bring increased cloud cover, scattered rain, and strong westerly winds in northeastern Thailand, especially affecting the provinces of Ubon Ratchathani, Amnat Charoen, Mukdahan, and Yasothon.

The department notes that a cold front moving southwards could create a clash of weather systems, which may influence Trami’s trajectory further. Travelers to the Philippines are advised to monitor weather conditions due to possible changes in the storm’s path.

In the Andaman Sea, Cyclone “Dana” has intensified as it moves northwest towards India or Bangladesh, with no expected impact on Thailand.
