A Chao Phraya River express boat collided with a tourist boat in the Chao Phraya, Bangkok’s main river on Thursday, injuring several passengers, authorities said.

The tourist boat was entering the Bangkok Noi canal when it struck the right side of the Chao Phraya express boat, which was en route from Sathorn Pier to Nonthaburi province.

Four passengers on the Chao Phraya boat were injured, including two Canadian men with head and leg injuries, and two Thai women with leg and chest injuries. The tourist boat was unoccupied at the time of the collision.

After the incident, the damaged Chao Phraya boat docked at a pier near the Phra Pinklao Bridge while injured passengers were transported to Siriraj Hospital.

The Marine Department has seized the licenses of both boat captains and impounded the vessels to clear the Chao Phraya River for navigation.  (TNA)
