Two students were killed and several others were injured when a sedan failed to overtake a school van, which swerved to an on-coming van in the opposite lane.
The accident occurred on Phichit-Saklek Road on Monday afternoon. The collision involved three vehicles. The van carried students from five schools in Phichit’s provincial seat, heading to their homes in Saklek district.
The woman, who drove the sedan, admitted she was trying to overtake the school van, causing the van to swerve, lose control and hit another van travelling in the opposite lane. The personal van was driven by a woman and carried three children in her family.
The sedan driver said she would take all responsibility and apologized to the parents of the students.
Among 19 people injured were 17 students, the driver of the school van and the driver of the personal van. Out of all 17 students, four were seriously injured and two of them later died. (TNA)
