BANGKOK, 22 December 2013 Five districts in Ubon Ratchathani province are declared disaster zones due to cold weather after the temperatures dropped below 15 degrees Celsius for more than three consecutive days.
Governor of Ubon Ratchathani Wanchai Suthiworachai said 25 districts in the provinces were facing a continuous cold spell and five of them were now declared disaster zones, including Mueang, Sawang Wirawong, Warin Chamrap, Trakan Phuet Phon and Kut Khaopun. The province was urgently providing assistance for the locals living in the areas, the governor said.
On Sunday, cold snaps and gusty winds were still reported in Ubon Ratchathani with the lowest temperature being 12 degrees Celsius and the highest around 26 degrees Celsius.
