Udonthani Redcross initiates “Lens replacement surgery” scheme

BANGKOK, 16 July 2012  – Udonthani Redcross together with Aekudon Hospital and Methaudon foundation is initiating lens replacement surgery and breast cancer examination projects in honor of Their Majesties the King and Queen, and His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince. 

Duputy Goventment of Udonthani Noppawat Singhasakda has presided over the opening ceremony of “Lens replacement surgery” and “Mother’s breast cancer examination” projects in honor of Their Majesties the King and Queen, and His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince on the occasions of their 84th, 80th, and 60th birthday anniversaries respectively, with the participation of Udonthani Redcross officers, Methaudon foundation staff, Aekudon Hospital staff, and patients.

Mr. Banjerd Chatpaitoon, Chairman of Aekudon Hospital, has stated that these 2 projects are focused on helping those patients who are poor and disadvantaged; with up to 300 patients benefiting from the “Lens replacement surgery” scheme– a zero-cost service.

He went on to say that the breast cancer examination project is to emphasize on mothers, especially those over 40 years of age, who are likely to have higher risks of getting breast cancers, at zero cost to them as well.

The 2 projects are supported and subsidized by Aekudon Hospital and Udonthani donators, worth approximately 12 million baht.
