BANGKOK, 25 May 2015 – The unmarked Rohingya graves discovered in Malaysia could be related to the human trafficking movement in Thailand, says the Police Chief.

The Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Police Pol Gen Somyot Pumpunmuang has speculated that unmarked Rohingya graves discovered in Perlis, Malaysia could be from the same human trafficking movement in Thailand. The location of the unmarked graves were near the border of Thailand and Malaysia

He has said that the Royal Thai Police is starting their coordination with the Malaysian Police to track the entire human trafficking network in the region, simultaneously with the interrogation of captured human trafficker suspects to determine their involvement with the discovered graves in Malaysia.

The Thai Police Chief has also commented that the unmarked graves discovered in both countries could be considered as international crime. Therefore, all involved nations should cooperate to solve this problem.
