BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department forecasts that during the next 24 hours, moderate southwest monsoon winds will cover the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand. Additionally, a low-pressure area over northern Vietnam will bring thunderstorms and heavy rain to various parts of Thailand, with gusty winds expected in the North, Northeast, Central, and Eastern regions. Residents in these areas are advised to stay cautious of thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible heavy rainfall.
For maritime conditions, the Andaman Sea will experience moderate waves, with heights reaching around 1 meter, while the Gulf of Thailand will have lower waves, below 1 meter. However, in areas with thunderstorms, waves may rise higher than 1 meter. Fishermen are urged to avoid sailing in stormy areas.
Oct 1-3, unstable weather will persist in the northern and upper southern regions of Thailand, bringing thunderstorms, strong winds, and heavy rainfall to the Northeast, Central (including Bangkok and surrounding provinces), East, and upper South. The northern region may also experience isolated heavy rainfall.
After this period, cooler weather is expected as strong winds will develop, with temperatures expected to drop by 1–3°C in the Northeast. This temperature drop is caused by a moderate high-pressure system or cold air mass from China moving into northeastern and eastern northern Thailand, as well as the South China Sea. Meanwhile, the monsoon trough will pass over northern, lower northeastern, central, and eastern Thailand. (TNA)
