Unused telecom cables being removed

Tangled overhead cables in Bangkok will be also placed underground and unused cables are removed as part of the plan to beautify the city.

Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and the National Braodcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) are going ahead to organize overhead cables in the capital.

Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt on Monday inspected the removal of communication lines on Charoen Krung Road in Bangrak district.

The work is expected to be finished within one month for the 4-km distance. Officials will continue to clear unused cables in business areas including Saladaeng, Soi Convent, Soi Pipat and Sukhumvit. The MEA plans to remove communication lines from power poles for the 450-km distance this year.  (TNA)
