Bangkok – The upper part of Thailand has been warned of volatile weather and temperatures dropping 3-5 degrees Celsius from now until September 26.
A strong high pressure system from China is prevailing over the northern, northeastern and upper central regions, causing a monsoon trough to pass over the lower part of the country and bringing heavy rain to those areas.
In Bueng Kan province near the Mekong River, the high pressure system has brought fog and cool breezes and a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius on Monday. Many residents along the banks of the Mekong River were seen wrapping up in thicker clothing or out exercising to keep warm.
