BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Meteorological Department has forecasted scattered thunderstorms in upper Thailand, with cooler temperatures and strong winds to follow. A high-pressure system from China has extended into upper Vietnam and the South China Sea, bringing variable weather conditions to the region.

Temperature Drop Expected
The northeastern region will see a drop in temperatures by 2-4°C, while the northern, central, eastern, and Bangkok Metropolitan areas will experience a 1-3°C decrease. The weather is expected to be cooler with strong winds after the initial thunderstorms.

Regional Weather Overview
Northern Region: Cool mornings with light fog and isolated thunderstorms (10% of the area) in provinces like Tak, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun. Temperatures will range between 17-36°C, with mountaintop lows of 9-16°C.

Northeastern Region: Cool mornings with 10% chance of thunderstorms, particularly in Chaiyaphum, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani. Temperatures will drop to 21-36°C, with mountaintop lows of 14-18°C.



Central Region: Morning fog and 40% chance of thunderstorms in areas including Lopburi, Saraburi, Ayutthaya, Nakhon Sawan, and Ratchaburi. Temperatures will range from 24-35°C.

Eastern Region: Morning fog and 30% chance of thunderstorms, primarily in Chachoengsao, Chonburi (Pattaya), Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Temperatures will range from 24-36°C.

Southern Region: Persistent Rainfall
Eastern Coast: Thunderstorms are expected in 40% of the area, with heavy rainfall in Songkhla, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat. Temperatures will range from 23-34°C.

Western Coast: Thunderstorms in 30% of the area, particularly in Krabi, Trang, and Satun. Temperatures will range from 23-35°C.

Winds in southern regions remain moderate, with waves below 1 meter, rising above 2 meters in stormy areas. Mariners are advised to avoid sailing in regions with thunderstorms.




Bangkok and Surrounding Areas
Bangkok and nearby provinces will see light morning fog and a 30% chance of thunderstorms. Temperatures are expected to range between 25-35°C.

Advisory
Residents in upper Thailand should prepare for the changing weather conditions and ensure personal safety while traveling, particularly in areas prone to fog. Farmers are advised to protect crops from potential rainfall damage.
