BANGKOK, Thailand – The Department of Local Administration (DLA) has called an urgent meeting to ensure the efficient distribution of 10,000-baht handouts to the underprivileged and disabled under the government’s welfare program. Set for Monday (Sep 23), the meeting will brief provincial and district-level officials on how to assist recipients facing challenges, such as the bedridden and those without bank accounts.
Acting DLA Director-General Ekkawit Meepian issued a circular to provincial governors, urging officials involved in welfare payments to join the teleconference. The meeting will focus on ensuring that disabled individuals, the first group to receive payments, can access their funds smoothly.
The Ministry of Finance has announced that 14.5 million state welfare cardholders and disabled individuals will begin receiving their 10,000-baht payments from September 25. Those with bank accounts linked to their ID cards through PromptPay should receive the funds without issues.
For those without bank accounts or who are unable to access them, officials will assist with the distribution process. The meeting will provide guidelines to ensure all eligible recipients receive their payments promptly. (NNT)
