UTHAI THANI, 22 June 2015, The northern province of Uthai Thani yesterday deployed officials to eradicate mosquito breeding grounds, after a 20-year-old man recently admitted to hospital was diagnosed with dengue fever.

Health officials have been dispatched to inform the public of the disease. Dengue fever can cause high fevers, headaches, rashes, and pain throughout the body. Occasionally, the symptoms can develop into a lethal complication called severe dengue.

Officials searched and destroyed mosquito breeding grounds, such as coconut shells and old car tires. They handed out Abate Sand Granules to the locals. The chemical is an effective pest control for insects before they reach maturity.

The public health office also fumigated the patient’s residence out to a 100 meter radius.
