YALA, 15 June 2015 – Fresh produce prices in Muang district of Yala province have increased slightly ahead of the Ramadan period.
Muslims in Yala have begun stocking up on fresh food, after the Sheikhul Islam Office determined the first day of Sha’aban month to fall on either June 18th or June 19th, depending on lunar visibility at night.
Muslims are preparing for the fasting period for Islamic year 1436. The prices of vegetables and meat sold at the market in Yala city have adjusted higher.
Chicken has increased 5 baht to 80 baht per kilogram. Vegetable prices have risen by around 3-5 baht per kilogram. However, the price of beef is expected to remain unchanged throughout the religious period.
Yala security units will set up check points scattered throughout the province to keep the peace.
