BANGKOK, Thailand – More than 10 people have filed a complaint with Thai police, accusing two individuals of running a fraudulent tour company, Sept 9.
The alleged scammers operated a fake company, offering both overseas employment and travel packages. They used social media to convince potential customers to book trips and pay upfront.
One victim recounted purchasing a tour to Japan for over 60,000 baht, believing the company due to its active online presence and positive reviews. However, when the departure date neared, they could not reach the company. Months later, they were told that the company had used their money to purchase tours from another company but encountered problems.
The president of the Santi Prachatham Association revealed that the two suspects are believed to have been involved in similar scams, including mushroom farm investments, employment in England, and Japanese tours, defrauding over 150 victims of a total of 20 million baht.
The victims will be providing evidence to the police to investigate charges of fraud and consumer protection violations. It is believed that the suspects have fled the country. (TNA)
