Vietnamese Consul-General calls on Mukdahan Governor

MUKDAHAN, 10 July 2015 – The Vietnamese Consul-General has paid an official visit to the Governor of Mukdahan, after his recent promotion to the governing post.

The Governor of Mukdahan Sakolsarit Boonpradit, along with officials from government agencies, welcomed the Vietnamese Consul-General to Khon Kaen, Nguyen Ngoc Son and his party today, on the occasion of the Consul-General’s official visit to Mukdahan.

The two sides discussed administrative matters, involving tightening relations between the two countries at the local level, through the twin cities agreement between Mukdahan, Thailand and Quang Tri, Vietnam. Cooperation has also extended to promotion of trade cooperation, tourism, cultural exchanges, transportation, assistance to Vietnamese workers in Thailand, and assistance to Vietnamese-Thais living in Mukdahan.

The Vietnamese Consul-General thanked the Mukdahan Governor and all related agencies for their support of the Vietnamese-Thai community in the province, and expressed his stance that supports bilateral developments at the local and government level, that are appropriate to his role.

The Mukdahan Governor said that relations between the province and the Vietnamese-Thai community in the province were bolstered by the twin cities agreement that has led to mutual exchanges in culture, trade, and tourism. He added that the Mukdahan border post will continue to serve the many Thais traveling to Vietnam each year.
