The government is planning to extend the 60-day stay period to tourists from an additional 93 countries to attract more high-spending visitors.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin shared on X (formerly Twitter) the success of Thailand’s visa-free policy on July 27. He highlighted that the number of tourists from Taiwan and India has reached record highs, surpassing the levels seen post-COVID-19 and showing signs of exceeding the numbers from 2019. This surge is attributed to the visa exemption measures for Indian and Taiwanese tourists, which extended their stay to 60 days. The policy began in late 2023 and has been extended until November 11, 2024.

The Prime Minister noted that collaboration across all sectors is contributing to a steady recovery in tourism. In just the first half of 2024, the number of tourists from India alone increased by more than 30%, with expectations of reaching 2 million by the end of the year. The government is also planning to extend the 60-day stay period to tourists from an additional 93 countries to attract more high-spending visitors. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is preparing activities to attract tourists from various countries each month. The Prime Minister encouraged the tourism industry to prepare, stating that Thailand is now wide open for visitors.

The policy began in late 2023 and has been extended until November 11, 2024.
