BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thailand Meteorological Department has issued a 10-day forecast (from September 9-18) predicting increased rainfall across the country. Several regions are expected to experience heavy downpours, which could lead to flash floods, landslides, and strong winds.

Areas Expected to Receive Heavy Rain:
Northern:
Tak, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nan, Phrae, Lamphun, Lampang, Uttaradit
Northeastern (Upper): Bueng Kan, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, Udon Thani
Southern (Andaman Coast): Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket
Eastern: Chanthaburi, Trat

Causes of the Heavy Rain:
The forecasted rain is due to the continued influence of the southwest monsoon over Thailand, along with low-pressure systems affecting certain regions. During the period from September 10-18, a monsoonal trough is expected to move over the country, increasing rainfall in the north, northeast, central (including Bangkok and surrounding areas), east, and southern coastal regions.

Potential Impacts:
Accumulated rainfall may result in flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas.

Coastal areas, particularly in the Andaman region, could experience strong winds and rough seas, with warnings for small boats to stay ashore.

Travelers and outdoor workers are advised to stay cautious, as slippery roads and inclement weather could increase the risk of accidents.

The public is urged to stay updated with official weather reports and take necessary precautions against potential hazards from heavy rain during this period.

The red shading indicates heavy rain, while green shading represents light rain.
