A Myanmar mother has been charged with procuring underage girls including her 15-year-old daughter for prostitution, human trafficking and illegal entry.
The 37-year-old Myanmar mother, identified as Ma Miew was arrested after the girl’s father and a school teacher brought the girl to file a complaint against the girl’s mother, who forced her own daughter to provide sex service.
The mother works as a waitress at a resort in Saraburi’s Ban Mor district. The girl told the police she had been forced into prostitution by her mother since 2022. She and other girls provided sex service to men at the resort where her mother worked. The girl identified the clients, including a government official and a politician.
The mother arrested earlier confessed to procure sex service to customers and earned 1,500-2,000 per sex service. The money was used to cover her family’s expenses, she said.
A hospital staff member and a contractor allegedly buying sex service were arrested but they denied all charges. The police initially charge them with raping and committing an indecent act to an underage girl.
The police conducted a search at the resort to collect evidence and CCTV camera footage. They will seek more arrest warrants for more four people including a former politician and a former director of the Provincial Buddhism Office. (TNA)
