Welcoming new UN Resident Coordinator in Thailand

Both sides discussed opportunities for creating stronger and more impactful partnerships between Thailand and the UN Country Team in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

BANGKOK, Thailand – Ms. Pinsuda Jayanama, Director-General of the Department of International Organizations, welcomed Ms. Michaela Friberg-Storey on her assumption of duty as the new UN Resident Coordinator in Thailand on 11 October. Both sides discussed opportunities for creating stronger and more impactful partnerships between Thailand and the UN Country Team in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).



On this occasion, the UN Resident Coordinator expressed appreciation for Thailand’s leadership in promoting sustainable development in the region and reiterated the UN’s commitment to supporting Thailand in achieving the SDGs through close collaboration and joint efforts. The Director-General also reaffirmed Thailand’s commitment to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and invited the UN Country Team in Thailand to collaborate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Thailand on projects such as the SDGs Roadshow to engage and empower Thai youths, and to support Thailand in the preparation of the 2025 Voluntary National Review (VNR).
