BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Finance is preparing to propose to the Cabinet September 17 welfare cash transfer plan for 14.5 million vulnerable people, amounting to 145 billion baht.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Pichai Chunhavachira, stated that the cash transfer would take place over the last week of September. Due to system limitations, the Ministry can only process transfers for 4 million people per day. A detailed announcement on the project will follow the Cabinet meeting at Government House.

Deputy Finance Minister, Julapun Amornvivat, added that the second phase of the Digital Wallet initiative aims to stimulate the economy significantly. After the cash transfers to vulnerable groups are completed, the government plans to inject an additional 187 billion baht through the Digital Wallet to further boost economic activity. The project will undergo a sandbox testing phase to ensure the economic impact aligns with government goals before moving forward with full-scale implementation. (TNA)
