Rangers from the World Heritage national park used firecrackers to push the male elephant called Lamut back to the park. Earlier it broke into houses in Nadi district while searching for food.

The male elephant had left the Thap Lan National Park and fed in nearby villages for about five months. It ate produce and damaged houses and especially kitchens. It also seriously injured villagers. Forest officials attached a GPS tracking collar to it to facilitate attempts to scare it away from communities. (TNA)
