Mayor Ittiphol Khunplome chaired an informative meeting at the Banglamung public hall on June the 7th regarding women’s rights – especially those co-habiting or married to foreigners.
The meeting was organized by the Social Security Department and Banglamung district Chief Chawalit Saeng-uthai along with 200 people from general public were in attendance.
Ladies living with foreigners learn about their rights and exchange experiences.
The meeting focused on the legitimate rights that women have and raised the ugly subject of physical violence.
Speakers at the meeting talked about the anti-violence drive and how to prevent physical assaults.
The ladies were also informed on the various channels available to report incidents of assault and what laws were in place to protect them
On the day some women stood up and shared their experiences living with foreigners, some with good tales and others less so.
Attorneys were also on hand to give the women information so that they are aware of the rights.
