Rescuers have confirmed that three workers trapped inside a tunnel under construction for the Thai-Chinese high-speed railway in Nakhon Ratchasima province are still alive. The workers, a Chinese foreman, a Chinese backhoe operator, and a Myanmar dump truck driver, became trapped after a landslide on Saturday in Chan Thuek subdistrict, Pak Chong district.

Rescue teams from both state and private agencies have been working to clear the soil that slid down the mountain and trapped the workers. Oxygen has been pumped into the tunnel to sustain them, and a radar scanner from the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation detected vital signs from within the tunnel.

Rescue efforts intensified after an oxygen tube was inserted into the area where the vital signs were detected. Officials are now working to clear the remaining soil and reach the trapped workers. Once rescued, the workers will be assessed and transported to Pakchong Nana Hospital for further medical care.

Authorities have confirmed that a rescue plan is in place to assist the workers as quickly as possible. The situation continues to be monitored closely as efforts to reach the trapped men progress. (NNT)
